Commemorative License Plate

Virginia drivers have two ways to promote America's 400th Anniversary! The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles in partnership with 2007 redesigned the standard license plate to include the words "400th anniversary" and the dates "1607 - 2007." The new plate was introduced in July 2002.

Those who wish to support America's 400th anniversary and desire a more historical looking plate can purchase the Jamestown commemorative plate. The Jamestown commemorative plate which carries the image of a Jamestown ship was unveiled in 1998 and is one of the most popular special issue plates in Virginia.
