Virginia Indian Advisory Council
The primary mission of the Virginia Indian Advisory Council is to provide leadership, guidance and direction in the planning and production of signature events and programs in a way that:
- Educates the public on the significant contributions of Virginia Indians in helping the Jamestown settlement
- Educates the public in the history of Virginia Indian government
- Showcases historical and contemporary Virginia Indian culture through the arts
- Educates the public on the cultural differences of American Indians through an Inter-tribal Cultural Event
Members of the Council were chosen by the chiefs of the eight state-recognized Indian tribes located in Virginia.
